There is a sheet for children to record the cost of each item and a sheet for them to record the grid reference of the items. There is also a black and white grid with the shopping items on for children to colour in. Extend by asking differentiated questions such as: How much would it cost for a duck and an apple? Children watch the PPT and help Jo to decide on a dog they feel would be suitable. The slides are animated so the children will delight in watching the dogs on the TV, There are lots of details too on the slides for children to talk about and spot in the other slides. Some of these are animated also. The activity sheets are at the back: A writing frame for children to write their choice for Jo and their personal choice. They then draw these dogs. All 20 dog pictures - can children recall their names and write them underneath the pictures? You could also cut these out and laminate them and children can find the pictures to go with the slides as you go along. Extension activities include data handling - how many children chose the same or different dogs? How many children have pets?
